This is our story
Mont Reaga is not just a winery; it is the feeling, passion and dedication of an entire family and team to turn a dream into a reality.
A reality transformed into fields of vines, grain in the wind and a wide horizon where you can let your sight wander and intoxicate all your senses.
Mont Reaga opened its doors in 2004 with a wine project based on research, respect for the environment and the highest quality in each of its processes and wines.
Our philosophy is focused on the details… on the small details that range from the utmost care in cultivation and planting techniques until we obtain the finished product: our precious wines.
These small details are what make us different and be recognized internationally.
We strive and work every day to transfer all the charm of the Lands of Don Quixote to each of our wines and to be present in different countries around the world.
Mont Reaga
Mont Reaga is located in a traditional vineyard growing area in Castilla La Mancha (Cuenca), under the DO La Mancha and Protected Geographical Indication Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla.
We have an environmental protection model since in its construction and operation all aspects related to respect for our natural environment have been taken into account.
The farm has 130 hectares of land, surrounded by a beautiful landscape with vineyards and cereals. All of this is crossed by a small river that acts as a temperature regulator in summer and at the same time forms a unique ecosystem due to its richness in plants and animals.
An ideal place for a picnic surrounded by nature and surrounded by the magic of the world of wine.
VARIETIES
At Mont Reaga, both traditionally Spanish varieties (Tempranillo, Verdejo and Moscatel de Grano Menudo) and other international varieties that have adapted very well to the climate of our region and farm (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc) are grown.
One of the challenges in these warm lands is to preserve the appropriate acidity that gives the wines freshness without reducing the maturity, which provides an explosion of aromas, color and power.
TECHNIQUE
In the vineyard we carry out winter and spring pruning, along with harvest limitations carried out in summer. These processes allow us to obtain the highest quality of grapes for our wines.
Night harvests at the optimal moment of grape maturation that, together with manual selection of the same, we manage to eliminate leaves and stems, thus allowing us to make wines only with the best grapes.
ELABORATION
After the grapes have been selected, they are placed in our state-of-the-art stainless steel tanks, where fermentation and maceration take place, in which we extract the color, aroma and flavor that is so particular to our wines.
The production room has 20 stainless steel tanks and a truncated conical structure with a capacity of 25,000 liters.
BREEDING
At Mont Reaga we use 300 liter barrels, medium toasted from French and American oak with a maximum life of 4 years. These barrels provide our wines with everything necessary to make them long, smooth, fine, elegant and tasty, where the variety of the grape and its fruit is the protagonist.
Furthermore, at Mont Reaga we use vats of 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 liters to carry out slow aging, making the wines more elegant and rounded in the mouth.
